The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has stressed that conflict prevention and mediation is a key element of his activities and gave the example of the Cyprus 5+1 informal meeting that took place in Geneva April 27-29.
The SG spoke Friday before the UN General Assembly in a Dialogue as candidate for the position of the UN. Guterres is the official candidate for the new term that starts 1 January 2022.
