President Christodoulides to Discuss Biden Meeting and Cyprus Developments with Greek Prime Minister.

Athens: Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is set to meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday in Athens. The meeting will focus on discussing the outcomes of President Christodoulides’ recent meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House. Additionally, the leaders will strategize their governments’ actions in anticipation of developments regarding the Cyprus issue. This comes after Christodoulides attended an informal dinner with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, on October 15.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides will continue his diplomatic engagements on Friday, November 1st, with a visit to Thessaloniki. There, he will participate in the inauguration of a preserved bust of EOKA hero Kyriakos Matsis at the Aristoteleion University. In the afternoon, he will address an event organized by the Macedonian Studies Society, commemorating the victims of the Cyprus tragedy on the 50th anniversar
y of the Turkish invasion. The President will also open a conference titled “Cyprus and Romiosini,” organized by the Diocese of Kalamaria, the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, and the Region of Central Macedonia.

On November 2nd, President Christodoulides will return to Athens for an event at the Cultural Conference Center of the Municipality of Hellinikon – Argyroupoli “Mikis Theodorakis,” organized by the Union of Pontiacs. During this event, he will be declared the Ambassador of Pontic Hellenism for 2024. Cyprus, divided since 1974 following Turkey’s invasion and occupation of its northern third, has seen numerous UN-led peace talks fail. The most recent negotiations in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended without resolution.
