De minimis state aid of pound 113 million was given in 2022, pound 71m so far in 2023

In 2022, de minimis state aid of pound 113 million was given as per the Central Registry for De Minimis Aids, Commissioner for State Aid Control, Stella Michaelidou, said in a meeting with competent authorities on Thursday. She added that so far in 2023, pound 71 million in state aid has been registered from 17 authorities. Of these, the Department of Labour registered the most, pound 32 million. The Commissioner thanked the officials of the competent authorities for their cooperation, especially regarding the Central Registry for State Aid. She also noted that for the first half of 2023, 26 decisions with a total budget exceeding pound 100 million have been issued by her Office. Specifically, 19 decisions have been issued with a budget of pound 36 million for the Ministry of Agriculture, one decision for the Ministry of Health with a budget of pound 5 million, one decision for the Deputy Ministry of Welfare with a budget of pound 18 million, one decision for the Deputy Ministry of Tourism with a pound 5 million budget, one decision for the Ministry of Finance and one decision for the Research and Innovation Foundation. The ultimate goal of the meeting was the best and most effective use by the competent authorities of the legal framework for granting State Aid to companies that carry out economic activity and try to survive in a constantly changing, competitive business environment without distortion of competition between the Member States, said the Commissioner.
