CyStat Initiates 2025 European Health Interview Survey Across Cyprus

Nicosia: The Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT) has announced the launch of the European Health Interview Survey in Households for 2025. The survey, conducted every six years, is in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/1700 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which mandates implementation by all EU member states.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the primary aim of the survey is to assess the health status of Cyprus’s population and their use of health services. It will address areas such as chronic health conditions, physical and emotional health, healthcare utilization, medication use, prevention, nutrition, smoking, alcohol consumption, and physical activity.

The survey results will play a crucial role in shaping health policy and planning at both national and European levels. Conducted on a sample basis, the survey will include 4,000 households from both urban and rural regions of Cyprus.

Households will be briefed, and data will be collected from September to December 2025. Trained enumerators, identifiable by a special identity card from the Statistical Service, will visit selected households to provide information and arrange appointments for completing the survey questionnaire.

Enumerators may also contact households using a CyStat phone number. To verify the legitimacy of the contact, households can use a special tool on the Statistical Service web portal to confirm the phone number belongs to a Statistical Service employee.

The Statistical Service emphasizes that the survey adheres to the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (Law No. 25(I)/2021). Participation is mandatory for data provision, and non-compliance or the provision of false data could result in legal consequences.

The Statistical Service is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of the data collected, using it solely for statistical purposes. The results will be published in a manner that ensures the protection of personal data for respondents.
