Cyprus Weather Forecast: Low Pressure Brings Mist and Fog Challenges to Coastal Areas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating the influence of a seasonal low-pressure system. While the weather is expected to be mainly fine, there will be instances of increased low cloud coverage overnight and during the early morning hours. This could lead to mist and fog patches in some areas, impacting visibility.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the visibility is generally good; however, it may reduce to moderate or poor in mist and become very poor in fog. The sea surface temperature is currently recorded at 27°C, and there are no warnings in effect for the region.

On the west coast, night-time winds will vary from southwest to northwest at levels 3 to 4, becoming northwest to northeast near the coast. In the morning, the winds will shift to south to southwest at levels 3 to 4, with some variability at first. By afternoon, winds will strengthen to south to southwest levels 3 to 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight.

The south coast will see night-time winds from southwest to northwest at levels 3 to 4, with some areas experiencing southwest to west winds at levels 4 to 5. Morning winds will transition to southwest to west at levels 3 to 4, eventually becoming south to southwest at level 4. Afternoon conditions will present southwest to west winds at levels 4 to 5, locally reaching 5 to 6, with the sea state from smooth to slight.

For the east coast, night winds will transition from southwest to northwest at level 4, soon shifting to southwest to west at levels 3 to 4. Morning winds will be south to southwest at levels 3 to 4, increasing later to level 4. Afternoon conditions will feature southwest winds at levels 4 to 5, occasionally reaching level 5 locally.

On the north coast, night winds will range from southeast to southwest at levels 3 to 4, initially reaching southwest to west at level 4 in some areas. Morning winds will transition to southwest to northwest at levels 3 to 4, later increasing locally to level 4. By afternoon, winds will maintain a southwest to northwest direction at level 4, locally shifting to south to southwest at level 5, with a sea state from smooth to slight.
