Cyprus reports 131 new COVID cases and 60 hospitalisations

Cyprus’ Health Ministry announced on Thursday 131 new COVID-19 cases from a total of 56,507 tests and 60 hospitalisations. The positivity rate stands at 0.23%, total deaths at 557 and total cases at 120,992.

Out of the 60 patients in hospitals across the island, 22 are in a serious condition. According to figures, 56.67% of the admissions to hospitals are unvaccinated patients. Moreover, 11 post-COVID patients who are no longer infectious are intubated in serious condition in ICUs. Of the 557 deaths the 354 are male (64%) and 203 female (36%) and the median age is 76.3 years.

Out of the 22 patients in serious condition, 12 are intubated, 1 is in an ICU and 9 in ACUs.

Of the 56,507 tests, 4,916 were PCR and 51,591 rapid tests and the new cases were detected as follows:10 from 245 samples taken in the framework of contact tracing, 4 from 2,571
