For MC Services, this partnership provides an industry-respected gateway for accessing marketing, branding, digital marketing, public relations, and advertising capabilities in the U.S. And as CG Life’s clients increasingly request global capabilities across PR, branding, paid media, and more, CG Life will be able to activate a highly experienced communications and investor relations team in Europe and in Germany, in particular—the largest European healthcare market.

“Accessing the U.S. market is vital for the European biopharma sector, and we have worked for many years to better connect our clients to the life science ecosystem in the States,” said Raimund Gabriel, Managing Partner of MC Services. “We are excited to continue that mission by establishing a strategic alliance with CG Life, a like-minded agency in the U.S. with a global view that is equally committed to quality and performance.”

“Through extensive discussion, analysis, and reflection, both agency teams recognized that we share very similar cultural values, commitment to our clients and science, and an emphasis on providing business solutions rather than just delivering services,” said CG Life Managing Partner Erik Clausen. “We couldn’t be happier that we found a partner in MC Services that has the experience, skill and mindset, and relationships to collaborate with us and our clients.”

Traffic at Cyprus airports reaches 9.2 million passengers in 2022, according to Hermes Airports

A total of 9.2 million passengers travelled through Cyprus airports in 2022, which corresponds to 82% of passenger traffic in 2019, Senior Director of Aviation Development, Marketing & Communication of Hermes Airports Maria Kouroupi, has told CNA.

“The year 2022 ended with 9.2 million arriving and departing passengers, a figure that corresponds to approximately 82% of 2019 passenger traffic,” she said.

She added that despite the challenges for the airports, such as the pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with the suspension of flights from the two countries, as well as the lack of staff observed in the airlines and ground handling companies, they managed to achieve substantial recovery of passenger traffic and connectivity of Cyprus and to lay the foundations for a stable upward track.

Kouroupi noted that “in 2022 we had flights from 50 airlines in 38 countries and 140 routes,” adding that the most popular destinations for 2022 were the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Germany, Poland, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Hungary and Romania.

She also noted that the continuous communication with the airlines and the two-way exchange of information, the joint actions and the incentive plans, were very important elements for the success.

When asked what was expected for the new year in terms of air traffic, Kouroupi said that “if there is no setback with the pandemic, we remain optimistic as we receive encouraging messages “. She added that the airlines have drawn up an ambitious program with many new destinations, but also with strengthening of the existing routes.

States should resolve maritime delimitation issues peacefully in accordance with international law, State Department says

Actions that risk heightening tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean should be avoided, says State Department representative in a response to a question from Greek journalists.

The State Department spokesperson was replying to a question about reports that Greece is considering exercising its right to extend the country’s territorial waters to twelve miles south of Crete.

Asked whether such a move is compatible with the US’s legal interpretation of UNCLOS, his response was that “there is no change in the long-standing US position.”

“We believe the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be respected and protected. As a matter of principle, we encourage all states to resolve maritime delimitation issues peacefully in accordance with international law,” the spokesperson for the State Department said.

“While the United States generally does not take a position on other states’ maritime boundary disputes, we call on all parties to refrain from all actions that risk heightening tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean,” he noted.

The future belongs to the innovators, the daring, the visionaries, said C. Christofides

The future belongs to the innovators, the daring, the visionaries, independent candidate for the Presidency and former University of Cyprus Rector Constantinos Christofides, said in his statements after officially submitting his candidacy.

He spoke for centuries of struggles in Cyprus, bringing to his mind, his parents and all those who died whilst being displaced. He noted that “today we are surrounded by enormous dangers: national and social” and called on citizens to ask themselves what would make them proud and what kind of country they would want their children to live in.

Christofides invited people to compare characters, ideas, philosophies, goals and plans. “Decide not with a party criterion, nor with narrow personal interest, but with a criterion of how our country can become better. A Cyprus of equal opportunities is possible. We just have to believe it. The future belongs to the innovators, the daring, the visionaries. So, we will fight for this dark, but at the same time bright homeland, for the other Cyprus,” he concluded.

Replying to questions, Christofides said that in Cyprus there is not only the Wall of the Turkish Occupation. “There is another wall. What separates people into us and others. What divides people into those who have access to power and those who don’t. So there is a huge social wall, built by the political system for 60 years. Along with the wall of occupation, we also want to tear down the social wall. Because walls separate people, divide them,” he said.

Asked to comment on his expectations for the outcome of the election, Christofides said he is optimistic as more and more people embrace his candidacy. He emphasised that he is “the only independent candidate, who did not climb any party ladder and did not ask for any party support.

He thanked the artist Andreas Ladommatos, who proposed his candidacy, who, he said, “has been painting the landscapes of Cyprus for decades. He gives colour to the beautiful face of our homeland, it gives hope for tomorrow.”

Andreas Ladommatos said that he has known Christofides for over 20 years, as he had 2-3 of his paintings in the Rectory. They also both come from Turkish occupied Lapithos. “I really appreciated his sharp mind. He is a straight, just, incorruptible man. He has proven it so far, nothing bad was heard against him; A worthy man who can govern, manage and handle many things,” he said, citing as an example the management of €1.5 billion funds for the University of Cyprus.

Cyprus leaders to attend dinner with Colin Stewart the week starting January 23rd

President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar are going to attend a dinner to be hosted by Colin Stewart, UNSG Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, sometime within the week that starts January 23rd, the Cyprus News Agency has learned.

The dinner will take place at Stewart’s residence in the United Nations Protected Area in Nicosia. The UN official is currently in New York for deliberations as regards UNSG’s reports on Cyprus.

The two leaders had given their consent for this social dinner to take place before President Anastasiades’ tenure is over in March.

Anastasiades and Tatar met again in December at a Ledra Palace event organized by the UN for the end of the year celebrations.

Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion. The latest round of peace talks under the UN aegis took place in the summer of 2017 in the Swiss resort of Crans Montana, but failed to yield any results.
