We hope UN will press for a meeting between Cyprus President and Tatar, Spokesperson tells CNA

Government Spokesperson Marios Pelekanos expressed on Tuesday the hope that following a letter Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades sent to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, some pressure will be applied to the Turkish Cypriot side in order for a meeting between President Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar to take place.

Pelekanos was replying to a question by CNA on the next steps forward in view of a televised interview by Anastasiades on Monday evening, at Omega channel, in which he said that an effort by UN envoy Jane Holl Lute to arrange a meeting between himself and Tatar in New York was met with a refusal on the part of Turkish Cypriot negotiator Ergun Olgun to hold consultations with Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis.
