The two recent cases of monkeypox were transferred to an isolation area, the condition of first case is good, says Health Ministry

The condition of all three cases of monkeypox detected in Cyprus is very good, the Communication Advisor to the Minister of Health, Constantinos Athanassiou, told CNA, noting that the health condition of the first case is improving, while the other two cases have been transferred to isolation in infrastructure partnered with the state, since they did not need hospitalization.

Athanasiou reported that three people were vaccinated on Sunday. “Seven people who were among the contacts of the first incident showed interest, but only three came for vaccination”, he noted.

He added that from Monday, information will be given in hospitals so that health professionals who will be managing suspected or confirmed cases can express an interest in vaccination.

He also noted that actions are being taken through the European mechanism to accelerate the receipt of the approved drug tecovirimat in Cyprus.

The Communication Advisor of the Minister of Health, addressing the public, said that in order to avoid the spread of the virus and to prevent it, it is important that when someone develops a symptom consistent with monkeypox, they immediately contact their personal doctor to be given the necessary instructions.
