President says we have a duty to fight for a viable solution based on international law

We have a duty towards those who fought and gave their lives for their country to remain firmly committed to the principles of international law and the values of freedom, independence, dignity and the protection of human rights, President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades said Friday.

The President made statements to the press for the anniversary of April 1st, the day that the EOKA liberation struggle commenced.

The armed anti-colonial struggle lasted for four years -1955-1959- and led to the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960, having three guarantor powers, Britain Greece and Turkey.
