More than 900 people aged 60 and over were vaccinated with the fourth dose against COVID-19 on Tuesday, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson, Constantinos Athanasiou, told the Cyprus News Agency on Wednesday.

Furthermore, Athanasiou noted that since March 30, 2022, when the 4th dose for people over 70, for people who live or work in nursing homes and closed structures and for the immunodeficient or immunosuppressed patients began, more than eight thousand people have been vaccinated.

According to Athanassiou, the 4th dose of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered from March 30 until yesterday to 8,211 people, while on Tuesday, when the 4th dose to people over 60 years was made available, a total of 911 people were vaccinated.

Asked about the situation of the pandemic so far, Athanasiou said that there is a drop in new cases, as well as in the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

He noted, moreover, that 74.1% of the general population has been fully vaccinated so far.
