Industrial Turnover Index rose by 21.3% in November 2022

The Industrial Turnover Index reached 188,7 units (base 2015=100) in November, recording an increase of 21.3% compared to November 2021, according to data published by the Statistical Service on Friday.

For the period January-November 2022, the index recorded an increase of 22.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

In manufacturing, the Industrial Turnover Index for November 2022 reached 183.4 units, recording an increase of 16.3% compared to November 2021.

Increases were also noted in the sectors of electricity supply by 50.6%, mining and quarrying by 26.5% and water supply and materials recovery by 7.3%.

Unemployed persons increased yearly by 8.6% in January

The unemployed persons registered at the District Labour Offices recorded an increase of 8.6% in January 2023, compared to January 2022, reaching 16,758 persons, according to data published by the Statistical Service on Friday.

In comparison with January 2022, an increase of 1,328 persons or 8.6% was recorded, attributed mainly to the sectors of financial and insurance activities (an increase of 589), accommodation and food service activities (an increase of 583), transportation and storage (an increase of 143), human health and social work activities (an increase of 76), and information and communication (an increase of 67).

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for January 2023 increased to 14,121 persons in comparison to 14,068 in the previous month.
