Cyprus House President Annita Demetriou is visiting refugee infrastructure in Polish borders with Ukraine, along with other women Presidents of EU parliaments, at an invitation of the President of the lower House of the Polish Parliament.

In statements to the press, she said that the visit sends political messages for the need to stop the war and messages of cooperation to assist the refugees and all those who suffer.

She said that during the car ride to the borders they were briefed on the accommodation procedures and the infrastructure that were set up for the refugees adding that the authorities were worried for incidents of abuse and trafficking and they had to offer protection to all these people.

Demetriou pointed out that it is important to witness the situation on the ground, to be able to speak with all these people who have lost their homes and their beloved. This is a way to really comprehend the length of this atrocity, she noted and added that Cyprus really understands the situation because it went through the war and the Turkish invasion.
