Limassol: The Greek frigates "Kimon" and "Psara" continue their patrols in the maritime area of Cyprus, being refueled from the port of Limassol.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Hellenic Navy published a video on the X platform showing the departure of "Kimon" from the port of Limassol for patrol after refueling. In statements to CNA, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis mentioned that the Greek frigates are reinforcing the defense of the Republic of Cyprus. The patrols are part of preventive actions and measures taken by the Republic in collaboration with the Greek Government.
The frigates "Kimon" and "Psara" arrived in Cyprus last Wednesday. They are refueled in the port of Limassol before continuing their patrols off the coast of Cyprus. This activity comes in the wake of a Shahed-type drone attack on March 2, which struck military facilities in the British Bases at Akrotiri, causing minor damage. The attack, amid regional tensions following US-Israeli actions against Iran, led to increased security measures. Multiple countries, including Greece and France, have committed warships, aircraft, and air defense assets to protect Cyprus. Additionally, the UK announced the deployment of a warship. Nicosia maintains that it is not involved in the broader Middle East conflict.
