Deputy Minister to the President Petros Demetriou is undergoing heart surgery, Government Spokesperson Marios Pelekanos said on Tuesday.
In a written statement, Pelekanos said that Demetriou was transported by ambulance to a Nicosia hospital after having felt unwell.
He added that following a number of tests and on the basis of the results of a coronary angiography it was decided that he should immediately undergo surgery, which is taking place now.
More information will be released once the operation has finished, he said.
