Limassol:A significant sponsorship agreement valued at £20,000 has been established between the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and the Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation to aid 20 high-performing undergraduate students from low-income backgrounds.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the agreement was officially signed on Thursday, 29 October 2026, by Professor Panayiotis Zaphiris, the Rector of CUT, and Christos Papoutsas, the General Manager of the Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation.
The sponsorship will provide 20 scholarships, each worth £1,000, to students from various academic departments within the university. These scholarships aim to support the students in continuing their education. Recipients will be chosen based on a combination of academic performance and socioeconomic need. Eligible candidates must have completed their first year of studies with at least a 7.5 GPA.
The selection process will also consider the socioeconomic background of applicants and strive for gender balance. The scholarships are set to be awarded in December 2026 during a special ceremony at CUT, where a representative from the Foundation will present the awards.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to assist students facing financial challenges while recognizing their dedication and achievements in academia. Through this collaboration, CUT is enhancing its capacity to provide financial aid, thus promoting equal access to higher education.
