Cyprus secures the third medal and first silver in Commonwealth Games with Sokratis Pikakouris in Men’s Rings

The delegation of the Cyprus Commonwealth Games Committee won the third medal in the “Birmingham 2022” Commonwealth Games.

Cyprus secured the silver medal in the Men’s Ring’s Final in Artistic Gymnastics with gymnast Sokratis Pilakouris. England won the Gold Medal with Courtney Tulloch and Canada the Bronze with Chris Kaji.

Pilakouris with an excellent performance got 14,300 points in total, 6,100 for Difficulty and 8,300 for Execution, just 100 behind Tulloch.

In his statement after the Final, the 23 year-old gymnast said that this is the biggest success so far in his career as it is the first time he secures a medal in an international competition at the individual level.

“I feel perfect, I still haven’t realised it and when I realise it I will go crazy,” he said, and emphasised that it was something he had wanted very much and for which he fought and worked a lot.
