Cyprus Republic sends two firefighting aircraft to Turkish-occupied areas (2)

The Republic of Cyprus has received a call for help in addressing the fire in Turkish-occupied Kantara, through the UN.

To address the fire the Republic of Cyprus sends two firefighting aircraft, Deputy Government Spokesperson Niovi Parisinou told CNA earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Parissinou clarified to CNA that the request that came through the United Nations, was assessed by the President of the Republic and after that it was decided that the Department of Forests of the Republic of Cyprus sends two firefighting aircraft to Turkish-occupied Kantara.

“It goes without saying that we are always ready and willing to help” the Deputy Government Spokesperson had said.

Air firefighting means from Turkey and the UN are also contributing in the efforts.

According to reports from the occupied areas, the fire has so far burned to ashes about 2,600 acres of land.
