Cyprus Records Lowest Inflation in EU at 0.1% in July

Nicosia: Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices in Cyprus was the lowest recorded in EU in July, at just 0.1%, according to data published on Wednesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat) and Eurostat.

According to Cyprus News Agency, CyStat reported that the categories Restaurants and Hotels (5.9%) and Recreation and Culture (4.2%) recorded the largest increases, while Clothing and Footwear (-7.1%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, and Gas (-4.4%) showed the largest decreases.

The largest change in the economic categories compared to July 2024 was recorded in the Energy category, with a 9.7% drop.

Compared to June 2025, HICP was at 0.4%. The largest increases were observed in the categories Transport (3.8%) and Recreation and Culture (3.4%), and the largest drop was recorded in Clothing and Footwear (-13.4%).

For the period January – July 2025, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest increases were recorded in the categories Recreation and Culture (6.9%) and Restaurants
and Hotels (5.4%), and the largest decrease in Clothing and Footwear (-5.6%).

The largest change in the economic categories compared to June 2025 was recorded in the Non-Energy Industrial Goods category, down by 3.8%.

According to Eurostat, the euro area annual inflation rate was 2% in July 2025. European Union annual inflation was 2.4% in July 2025.

The lowest annual rates were registered in Cyprus (0.1%), France (0.9%), and Ireland (1.6%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (6.6%), Estonia (5.6%), and Slovakia (4.6%).

In July 2025, the highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from services (+1.46 percentage points, pp), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (+0.63 pp), non-energy industrial goods (+0.18 pp), and energy (-0.23 pp).
