Deryneia: Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Minister Christos Senekis emphasized the importance of gathering producers' insights to fortify the primary sector during his visit to the Deryneia Municipal Farmers' Market. The initiative seeks to capture the opinions and requirements of producers before implementing revisions to the agricultural policy.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Senekis highlighted that this visit is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to maintain dialogue with producers and agricultural organizations. "Our aim is to listen to our producers and agricultural organizations, so that we can formulate our positions and proposals ahead of the revision of the new agricultural policy. Within the framework of the European Union, we want to put forward proposals and provide tools that will genuinely strengthen the primary sector and enable us to address the modern challenges faced by our producers," he remarked.
The Minister underscored the critical role of supporting the farming community and promoting modern facilities like the Deryneia Municipal Farmers' Market to facilitate direct interaction between consumers and producers. He also addressed water availability issues, noting past challenges but acknowledging this year as relatively favorable regarding water reserves. He assured that plans are underway to secure water sufficiency for future years.
