Cyprus records 2 deaths and 2,457 new COVID-19 cases, 208 patients are in hospital

Cyprus on Thursday announced two deaths and 2,457 new COVID-19 cases, while 208 patients are treated in hospital.

The deaths concern a man, 74, who died on Wednesday and another man, aged, 52 who died on Thursday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 so far, is 952.

According to the Health Ministry, 208 people are in hospital, including 30 who are in serious condition, seven of whom are in intensive care units, including five who are intubated, while 23 are being treated in high dependency units. In total 60.1% of patients are not vaccinated.

The new cases were detected among 79,334 tests – 2,945 PCR and 76,389 rapid tests – with a positivity rate of 3.1%. So far 452,172 cases have been recorded in the Republic of Cyprus.
