Cyprus President stresses need for active employment policies and gender equality at EU Social Summit in Porto

The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades stressed the need for an integrated strategy for designing and implementing active employment policy measures, combined with strengthening anti-discrimination efforts and promoting equality and gender equality specifically under the EU social rights pillar, during his intervention at the EU Social Summit held at the Alfandega Conference Center in Porto, Portugal.

More specifically, during his intervention, the President stated that “we are well aware that the economic and employment consequences of the pandemic have exerted and will continue to exert considerable pressure on the labour market.”
