Cyprus President Meets with Turkish Counterpart Amid European Political Community Summit.

Budapest: President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 5th European Political Community Summit in Budapest, according to government officials.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letybmiotis shared on ‘X’ that the meeting took place in the presence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The gathering marked a significant diplomatic engagement amid the ongoing summit.

Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou, accompanying President Christodoulides in Budapest, also noted on ‘X’ that the conversation occurred at the beginning of the European Political Community deliberations. He highlighted the presence of both the Turkish Foreign Minister and later, the Prime Ministers of Greece and Albania during the discussions.

Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Victoras Papadopoulos,
further stated on ‘X’ that President Christodoulides had the chance to engage in discussions with President Erdogan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. It was emphasized that the dialogue with the Turkish President happened in the presence of the Greek Prime Minister.

President Christodoulides’s visit to Budapest is part of his participation in the European Political Community Summit. He is set to join the informal European Council Summit on Friday, which will focus on discussing the future of European competitiveness. Accompanying him are Deputy Minister of European Affairs Marilena Raouna, the Deputy Government Spokesman, and other officials.
