Vaduz: Cyprus and Liechtenstein have reaffirmed their excellent relations during an official ceremony that took place recently in the Principality.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Principality of Liechtenstein, based in Vienna, Andreas Ignatiou presented his credentials to Prince Alois during an official ceremony on October 25, 2024, at Vaduz Castle. This was followed by a tete-a-tete meeting where they reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.
They also discussed issues of bilateral and international interest, as well as matters concerning the European Union, in which Liechtenstein has a particular interest given its participation in the European Economic Area.
Ignatiou also informed Prince Alois about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the efforts of the President of the Republic to resume the Cyprus talks.
The Ambassador further held a meeting with Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Educati
on and Sports of the Principality, Stephan Jäger. During this meeting, the discussions centered on the Cyprus issue, Cyprus-Liechtenstein cooperation, as well as EU-Liechtenstein relations. In this context, Ignatiou thanked Jäger for the longstanding stance of principles that his country maintains regarding the Cyprus issue.
