Cyprus FM travels to London for a working visit

Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides is traveling to London Monday for a working visit, at the invitation of his British counterpart James Cleverley.

A press release by the MFA says that the meeting with Cleverley is set for Tuesday and on the agenda are bilateral relations and further deepening them in a wide range of sectors, Turkey’s efforts to upgrade the entity in the occupied areas and create a new fait accompli and the situation in Ukraine, following the Russian invasion.

The two Ministers will also sign a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation, on practical ways of strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and the UK in various fields.

Kasoulides will also meet the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons, Alicia Kearns and with other members of the House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He returns home Wednesday.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results.
