Cypriot official highlights particularities of states vis-à-vis new climate goal at Brussels meeting


Permanent Secretary for DG Environment at the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, Dr Costas Hadjipanayiotou, has said that the particularities of the EU member states are of utmost importance in the effort to define the new climate goal for 2040.

The Cypriot official was speaking at the Ministerial Meeting on Climate and Resilience for 2050, held on Tuesday in Brussels, representing Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, Dr. Maria Panayiotou.

According to an official announcement, in his intervention, he emphasized the socio-economic aspects and the need for a structured dialogue with all the actors involved, noting that the particularities of the member states in the effort to define the new goal for 2040 is a factor of utmost importance.

He also said that the effort should be accompanied by technical and financial support.
