Cypriot MP continues contacts in Bosnia in framework of OSCE elections monitoring mission

Cypriot Parliamentarian and Vice-President of OSCE PA Irene Charalambides continued contacts in Bosnia and Herzegovina Saturday. She is heading an elections monitoring mission in the country.

A press release by the Parliament says that Charalambides presided over a discussion with representatives of the press from the public and private sector and of the country’s media regulator.

She underlined the need to ensure the independence of the media so that they can effectively exercise their important role in holding public officials accountable and exposing any cases of corruption.

The Cypriot MP also had a meeting with US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who is participating in the OSCE mission to whom she noted that she is working closely with all the observers to prepare a balanced report of conclusions that accurately reflects their findings on the electoral process.
