The return of Famagusta can be the ideal confidence-building measure, pledged Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides on Wednesday, noting the government will insist on the proposal for the opening of the airport in Turkish occupied Tympou and Famagusta port in exchange for the return of the fenced off area of Famagusta.
Addressing an event in Limassol to honour the late former mayor of Famagusta, Alexis Galanos, Kasoulides said the return of Famagusta should be and can be an ideal CBM that can pave the way for the solution of the Cyrus problem, as Alexis Galanos used to support.
Assuring that we will continue the fight for justification, he said in all discussions on solution plans and the latest negotiations, there was never a doubt that the first town to be returned should be Famagusta.
