Brussels: Commissioner Kadis is set to visit Gdynia and Gdansk on September 4-5 to tackle pressing issues in the Baltic fisheries sector. The visit aims to bolster cooperation with Polish partners to ensure the sustainability of the Baltic Sea and the future of Poland’s fishing communities.
According to Cyprus News Agency, discussions will primarily focus on leveraging the European Maritime, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Fund to mitigate losses, address structural overcapacity, and support the sector’s transition towards sustainability. On September 4, Commissioner Kadis is scheduled to meet with producer organizations at the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute in Gdynia, followed by a working dinner with Jacek Czerniak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The following day, September 5, includes a study visit to a fishing vessel in the Gdynia port, an exchange with stakeholders at the Dalekomorski Port Rybacki in Gdansk, and a press point at 11:30 CEST. The visit will conclude with a tour of the Port of Gdansk, emphasizing Poland’s critical role in shaping the future of Baltic fisheries.
