EPPO Confirms Investigation Into Great Sea Interconnector Project

Nicosia: The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has confirmed to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that there is an ongoing investigation into the Great Sea Interconnector project (GSI). The EPPO has emphasized that no further details will be disclosed at this time to avoid jeopardizing the investigation’s outcome.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, revealed on Wednesday that he was informed by the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus about the EPPO’s probe into potential criminal activities related to the GSI project. This announcement underscores the seriousness of the investigation and its potential implications.

In response to a request for comment from the Cyprus News Agency, an EPPO Press Officer confirmed the existence of the ongoing investigation. The Press Officer stated, “No further details can be made public at this time, in order not to endanger the outcome of the investigation.” This highlights the sensitive nature of the case and the EPPO’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of their investigations.

The EPPO also noted that any public information regarding the investigation will be communicated directly by their office when deemed appropriate. This ensures that any developments are accurately reported and managed directly by the EPPO, maintaining transparency while safeguarding the investigation’s integrity.
