Nicosia: The Council of Ministers will make further decisions during its next meeting aimed at upgrading shelters for citizens, President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides announced on Monday. Asked by journalists about the issue of shelters in Cyprus amidst the regional crisis, the President acknowledged both positive and negative aspects of the current situation, emphasizing that the country has not yet reached the desired level of preparedness.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of shelters, noting the historical context of the country's need for such facilities. "Are we at the level we want or should be? No, we are not," he stated, highlighting the importance of having adequate shelters, especially in a country that experienced an invasion and occupation 52 years ago.
The President noted a significant increase in the percentage of shelters available but reiterated that the current situation is not satisfactory. He confirmed that the upcoming Council of Ministers meeting will focus on making further decisions to enhance and upgrade the shelters, ensuring better protection for citizens in the future.
