A total of 133 new COVID cases detected, no deaths reported on Sunday

Cypriot health authorities announced 133 new COVID-19 infections on Sunday bringing the total number of cases since the outbreak of the pandemic to 125,947.

 

A press release issued by the Ministry of Health says the daily positivity rate now stood at 0.34%.

 

No fatalities were reported and as a result, total deaths remained unchanged at 576 of whom 368 or 64% were men and 208 or 36% were women with a median age of 76.1 years.

 

According to the Ministry, 69 patients receive treatment in public hospitals, of whom 23 are being treated in serious condition in ACUs and ICUs. Of the 23 patients in serious condition, seven are intubated in ICUs, two in ICU but not connected to a ventilator and 14 patients are in ACUs.

 

Data indicates that 66.18% of the patients have no vaccination history, while one post-covid patient who is no longer infectious is intubated in serious condition in the ICU.

 

According to the press release, the 133 new COVID cases were detected from 39,447 tests, of which 3,286 were done through PCR method and 36,161 with antigen rapid tests.

 

Eleven cases were detected from 185 samples through contact tracing, two tested positive from 1,687 tests at Paphos and Larnaca Airports, 16 samples were positive from 997 samples performed privately. One tested positive from 308 samples after referrals from personal doctors to public health hospitals while 37 cases were diagnosed from 16,000 rapid tests at private labs and pharmacies and a further 66 from 20,161 samples carried out in the context of the Ministry of Health rapid test programme.
