Colombia bumped up in green category, as per latest epidemiological risk assessment for travel purposes

Colombia has been moved from the red to the green category according to the latest epidemiological risk assessment of countries for travel purposes, to be in effect from April 7, the Health Ministry announced on Monday.

Following a decision of the Council of Ministers, as of February 21, 2022 the new Action Plan for the smooth operation of flights and the operation of airports entered into force. The Health Ministry said that its Epidemiological Monitoring Unit has made a re-evaluation of the epidemiological situation in various countries as regards COVID-19.

Police book 2 businesses, 12 individuals during the past 24 hours for violations of COVID-19 measures

Cyprus Police booked two businesses and 12 individuals during the past 24 hours for violations of the measures against the further spread of COVID-19. In total, 2,196 checks were carried out in all districts.

A Police spokesperson told CNA on Monday that most fines concern non-use of mask by individuals while the businesses were booked after employees were found to work without a SafePass.

Cyprus reports 4 deaths and 4,210 new COVID cases, 199 patients are in hospital

Cyprus` Health Ministry reported 4 deaths and 4,210 new COVID cases Monday. Hospitalisations stand at 199 and according to the authorities, 28 patients are in serious condition. Deaths rose to 946 and cases to 444,012. Positivity rate today stands at 4%.

The deceased are 3 men and a woman 68, 77, 89 and 88 years of age who passed away yesterday and today. Figures show that 52.77% of patients are unvaccinated. Moreover the Ministry said that 13 patients who are no longer infectious are still intubated in an ICU.

Today a total of 105,150 tests were carried out of which 4,197 were PCR and 332 cases were diagnosed (Positivity rate PR (7.91%), 100,953 were rapid and 3,878 cases were detected (PR 3.84%).

Spike in Covid-19 cases in Cyprus tightened lending criteria for corporate loans in Q4 2021

The rise in daily Covid-19 infections in Cyprus and the heightened uncertainty over the impact on the real economy led the Cypriot banks to tighten the lending criteria for corporate loans in the fourth quarter of 2021, a Bank Lending Survey issued by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) shows.

The CBC said that lending criteria for household loans remained unchanged, while the expectations of the banks participating in the survey suggest that lending criteria will remain unchanged for the first quarter of 2022.

According to the CBC factors that led to the tightened lending criteria for the Cypriot businesses, both large corporates and small and medium sized corporations, were the banks’ perception of risk compared with the prospects of certain sectors of the economy, their general economic status and the reduced risk tolerance.

CyCLOPS to be inaugurated by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs

The Cyprus Center for Land, Open-seas, and Port Security, CyCLOPS, in Larnaka, will be inaugurated on Wednesday by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland and Cyprus FM Ioannis Kasoulides.

CyCLOPS was constructed in the framework of bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and the US and is a training facility that serves Cyprus and the broader region.

During her visit to the island Nuland will meet on Thursday with President Nicos Anastasiades with whom she will discuss the Cyprus problem and the CBMs put forward by the President, a statement by the director of his press office says.

President Anastasiades stresses important steps for strategic planning in energy sector

The President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades stressed on Monday the important steps that have been taken in the last two years within the framework of the Government`s strategic planning in the energy sector.

President Anastasiades was speaking at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace during which the member of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA) Neophytos Hadjigeorgiou was sworn in.

In his address, President Anastasiades said that he proceeded with the reappointment of Neophytos Hadjigeorgiou, to the position of member of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, taking into account, apart from his academic knowledge and years of experience in energy issues, his great contribution to the multifaceted work carried out by the Authority.

FMs of Greece, Cyprus and Israel hold trilateral meeting on Tuesday in Athens

A trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Cyprus and Israel will take place on Tuesday in Athens, where Cyprus FM, Ioannis Kasoulides, is traveling on Monday evening.

According to a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry, the discussion during the meeting is expected to focus, among others, on ways to strengthen the coordination and cooperation of the three countries in a wide range of areas, with the common goal of creating conditions of security and stability in the region.

In addition, views will be exchanged on regional issues of common interest such as energy cooperation, multilateral cooperation schemes including the 3+1 format with the US, as well as EU-Israel relations.

Cyprus President to pay two-day state visit to Montenegro

Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, will pay a state visit to Montenegro on April 5-6, during which he will discuss with the country`s President the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Montenegro, developments in the Cyprus problem, the ongoing Turkish provocations against the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the situation in Ukraine and the relations between the EU and Montenegro.

A press release issued by Presidency of the Republic said that Anastasiades will pay the two-day state visit at the invitation of President, Milo Ðukanovic.

Anastasiades, who will be accompanied by his spouse, Antri Anastasiades, will meet with the President of Montenegro on April 5.

Foreign Ministers of Greece, Nikos Dendias, Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, and Israel, Yair Lapid, will hold a trilateral meeting in Athens on Tuesday, April 5.

According to the Greek Foreign Ministry`s announcement, on Tuesday morning, the Greek Foreign Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with his Cypriot counterpart, Ioannis Kasoulides, followed by extended talks.

In the framework of the coordination between Athens and Nicosia, the discussions are expected to focus on the Cyprus problem, the situation in Ukraine, and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
