Winning the first European gold medal for Cyprus in gymnastics is truly amazing, Cypriot gymnast Marios Georgiou wrote in a message he posted in social media.
“I feel very happy and blessed to be able to place Cyprus on top of the pedestal in Europe” he said, referring to the “incredible love” he received from the people.
The European champion expresses gratitude to his coach, Panayiotis Petrides, and his support team, as well as the Federation and the Cyprus Sports Organization, that have always been by his side, as he says.
Georgiou won the gold medal at men’s horizontal bar at the European Championship in Munich.
