Weather Forecast for Cyprus Sea Area Indicates Calm Conditions

Nicosia:The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, effective from 0600 on October 8, 2026, until 0600 on October 9, 2026.

According to Cyprus News Agency, a weak high-pressure system is beginning to affect the region, resulting in mainly fine weather with some areas experiencing increased cloud coverage. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast was noted at 1019 hPa, and the sea surface temperature is reported to be 26°C. There are no warnings in place for the period.

For the West Coast of Cyprus, winds are expected to shift throughout the day. In the morning, winds will move from northeast to southeast at a Beaufort scale of 3, later changing to southwest to northwest with the sea remaining smooth to slight. By afternoon, winds will come from the west to northwest at 3 to 4, and locally 4 to 5, with the sea state being smooth to slight, and later locally slight. During the night, winds will transition from northwest to northeast at 3 to 4, with some local areas experiencing west to northwest winds at 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state.

The South Coast will see morning winds from northwest to northeast at a Beaufort scale of 3, changing to northeast to southeast at 3 to 4, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. In the afternoon, winds will move from southeast to southwest at 3 to 4, locally shifting north to northeast, while maintaining a smooth to slight sea state. At night, winds will come from northwest to north at 3 to 4, with the sea continuing to be smooth to slight.

For the East Coast, morning winds will be from north to northeast at 3, occasionally locally reaching 3 to 4, with a smooth to slight sea that is locally slight at times. In the afternoon, north to northeast winds will persist at 3 to 4 with a smooth to slight sea, locally slight at times. During the night, winds will transition from northwest to north at 3 to 4, occasionally from west to northwest, with the sea state remaining smooth to slight.

Lastly, the North Coast will experience morning winds from southeast to southwest at a Beaufort scale of 3, gradually shifting to northwest to northeast, with a smooth to slight sea. In the afternoon, winds will be from northwest to northeast at 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4, with the sea state remaining smooth to slight. At night, winds will come from northwest to north at 3, with local coastal areas experiencing southeast to southwest winds, and the sea remaining smooth to slight.
