We aim to improve Cyprus’ competitiveness, FinMin says


Finance Minister Makis Keravnos reiterated the government’s aim to improve the Cypriot economy’s competitiveness while boosting its outward-looking approach and exporting capacity for Cypriot businesses.

Keravnos visited the premises of Dosear, a firm specialised in providing digital solutions, platforms and management tools, stressing that his visit manifests the government’s will to support innovative businesses especially those which employ Cypriot scientists and collaborate with international corporations.

‘This is a commendable effort and the government will support these efforts,’ he said, adding that the government is drafting a plan which would enrich its growth model facilitating the creation of productive units and businesses utilising new technology and creating new jobs.

Replying to a question whether attracting Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) is favourable in the current juncture, Keravnos said attracting FDI is not only advised but is considered to be a necessity and a priority.

He added th
at the FDI is among the EU’s strategic priorities with a view to improve the block’s competitiveness.
