Ukraine’s EU candidacy is a triumph for the European integration, President of the Parliamentary Committee of European Affairs, Haris Georgiades said, during a video conference of the European Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, on the EU’s enlargement policy, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As announced by the House of Representatives, Georgiades said that Ukraine’s candidacy is a triumph for the European integration and added that the decisions regarding Moldova and Georgia, are highly symbolic. “These countries deserve to be part of the EU, after exhibiting true commitment to its values”, he said.
Moreover, he stressed that the countries that do not respect the international law and suppress human rights add the sovereignty of neighboring EU member states, should be excluded from the enlargement policy.
