Two deaths and 1,355 new cases of COVID-19 announced

Two deaths and 1,355 new cases of COVID-19 were detected, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday. New cases were detected during the week 3-9 February.

The Health Ministry, in its statement, reports that 62,357 tests took place and the positivity rate is at 2.17%.

The deaths recorded concern a 96-year-old woman that died on February 5th and a 78-year-old man that died on February 6th.

Total deaths due to COVID-19 are 1,293. Total cases detected since the beginning of the pandemic are 645,515.

In public hospitals, 57 patients with COVID-19 are being treated, 12 of whom in serious condition.

From 1,154 PCR tests, 119 came positive, with a positivity rate of 7.86%.

Also, 60,843 rapid tests were performed, from which, 1,236 new cases emerged, with a positivity rate of 2.03%.

On a private initiative, 1,157 PCR tests were carried out and 49 positive cases were identified, with a positivity rate of 4.24%.

Also, 37,556 rapid tests were performed and 1,104 positive cases were detected, with a positivity rate of 2.94%.

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 23,287 rapid tests were performed and 132 positive cases were identified.

At the sampling points, 5,684 rapid tests were performed and 65 positive cases were identified, with a positivity rate of 0.41%.

Meanwhile, in Primary Education, 614 rapid tests were performed and one positive case was detected, with a positivity rate of 0.16%, while in Secondary Education, 1,131 rapid detection tests were performed and 8 positive cases were detected, with a positivity rate of 0.71%.

In nursing homes, 4,784 rapid tests were performed and 45 positive cases were identified, with a positivity rate of 0.94%.

In closed facilities, 1,074 rapid tests were performed and 13 new cases were identified, with a positivity rate of 1.21%.
