Transport Minister in Rome for Ukraine Recovery Conference

Rome: Cyprus’ Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, is to represent the President of the Republic at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 (URC2025), taking place in Rome on Thursday and Friday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the conference is co-organised by Italy and Ukraine and brings together heads of state and government, ministers, representatives of parliaments, international organisations, businesses, local authorities, and civil society. The aim is to strengthen international support for the swift recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine.

During the conference, Vafeades will participate in thematic sessions and is to hold a series of contacts with counterparts and officials from other EU member states and international institutions. He will be ‘conveying the Republic of Cyprus’ steadfast commitment’ to practical support for Ukraine and its European path.

It is noted that URC2025 will focus on four thematic dimensions, namely the business dimension on mobilising the private sector for reconstruction and economic growth, the human dimension for social recovery and human capital for the country, the local and regional dimension concerning the recovery of municipalities and regions, and the EU dimension which concerns Ukraine’s EU Accession and related reforms.
