Nicosia: The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled “Current Trends and Developments in International Investment Law and International Commercial and Investment Arbitration” was recently organized by the Mobility Office of the Open University of Cyprus (OUC), marking a successful event.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the programme saw participation from 21 students and three professors from six foreign universities, under the scientific coordination of Assistant Professor Chrysthia Papakelovoulou from OUC. Throughout the programme, lectures, presentations, and discussions facilitated knowledge exchange among professors, students, and professionals in the field of law.
The primary objective of the programme was to explore contemporary trends in International Arbitration, emphasizing its role as an effective dispute resolution method. The focus areas included International Investment and Commercial Arbitration, with specific case studies being addressed.
The BIP’s implementation was coordinated by OUC and included six universities: National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, FernUniversity in Hagen, Riga Graduate School of Law, University of Hamburg, University of Kragujevac, and Bucharest University of Economic Studies, spanning five countries: Greece, Germany, Latvia, Serbia, and Romania. The Cyprus Bar Association and the Cyprus Arbitration and Mediation Centre sponsored and supported the educational programme.
Special appreciation was extended to the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo for providing facilities for the programme. The BIP facilitated significant benefits by sharing knowledge and experiences, fostering a culture supportive of International Arbitration, promoting intercultural cooperation, and strengthening bonds among the academic collaborators.
