Tourist related activities continued leading to an increase in the Services Turnover Value Index in the first quarter of 2022, reflecting the recovery of Tourism following the COVID-19 disruption.
According to data published on Tuesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat) Turnover Value Index during the first quarter of 2022 recorded annual increases in the sectors of accommodation and food service activities with 91.1%, of information and communication with 32.5, of administrative and support service activities with 20.6% and of professional, scientific and technical activities with 6.8% year on year.
The increase in accommodation and food service follows an annual increase of 98.2% in Q4 2021.
By economic activity, accommodation marked the highest annual increase in Q1 2022 with 717.4%, followed by Motion picture, video and television programme production, sound recording and music publishing activities with 131.4% and Food Services activities with 64.3%.
According to Cystat, the majority of the sectors recorded annual gains in Q1 2022 with the exception of Office administrative, office support and other business support activities and programming and broadcasting which contracted by 6.8% and 3.9% respectively.
