The total registrations of motor vehicles decreased by 14.5% in January-April 2022

The total registrations of motor vehicles decreased by 14.5% to 10,682 in January-April 2022, from 12,489 in January-April 2021, according to data published by Cyprus Statistical Service.

More specifically, passenger saloon cars decreased to 8,631 from 9,648 in January-April 2021, recording a fall of 10.5%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 3,806 or 44.1% were new and 4,825 or 55.9% were used cars.

Motor coaches and buses registered in January-April 2022 increased to 44, from 19 in the same period of 2021.

Mopeds of less than 50cc registered in January-April 2022 decreased to 106 compared to 108 in the corresponding period of the previous year, while mechanised cycles of more than 50cc decreased by 39.3% to 666 in January-April 2022, compared to 1,098 in January-April 2021

Goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 24.4% to 1,119 in January-April 2022, compared to 1,480 in January-April 2021. In particular, light goods vehicles decreased by 20.1% to 895, heavy goods vehicles by 39.4% to 109, road tractors (units of trailers) by 76.2% to 20 and rental vehicles by 1% to 95.

In April 2022, the total registrations of motor vehicles numbered 2,810, recording an increase of 3.1% compared to 2,725 in April 2021. Passenger saloon cars registered a rise of 7.4% to 2,249, from 2,095 in previous month.
