Chi?inau: The future of Moldova lies within the European Union, Cyprus Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Marilena Raouna said during her working visit to the Moldovan capital.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Raouna emphasized Cyprus’ strong commitment to Moldova’s European aspirations, particularly as Cyprus prepares for its Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026. She expressed gratitude to Cristina Gherasimov, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, for the warm reception and insightful discussions regarding Moldova’s goals and challenges on its EU path.
Raouna also held a meeting with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu. She shared on X that their discussions centered on Moldova’s significant progress on reforms. Raouna reaffirmed Cyprus’ unwavering support for Moldova’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, alongside its European perspective.
“As we prepare to assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026, we remain committed to advancing the EU’s enlargement agenda and delivering tangible progress on Moldova’s accession negotiations,” Raouna stated, highlighting Cyprus’ role in supporting Moldova’s EU integration.
