The 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games begin on Saturday

With the opening ceremony at the Karteros Beach Sports Center (20:30), the 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games ‘Heraklion 2023’ begin on Saturday. Cyprus is participating at the Games with 45 Athletes, 25 men and 20 women.

However, the competition program of the Games will start in the morning, with three participations from the delegation of the Cyprus Olympic Committee.

The Men’s and Women’s National teams in Beach Handball will have their first games in the tournament of Beach Handball and the Triathlon athlete, of the Modern Pentathlon category, Alexandros Constantinou to participate in his sport’s final, which starts at 12:00.

Women’s Beach Handball team will face Italy at 10:50 and Tunisia at 16:00 and Men’s team will face Italy at 15:00.

Cyprus’ delegation consists of 45 athletes, 25 men and 20 women, who will compete in eight out of the thirteen sports that will be held at the 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games in Heraklion from September 9th to September 16th, 2023.

Around 700 athletes from 26 countries will participate in the games that will be held in five different locations in three municipalities. These locations are Karteros Coastal Sports Facilities, Heraklion Marina and the National Sports Center of Heraklion, Gouvon Beach in Hersonissos and Ammoudaras Beach in Malevizi.

In BEACH VOLLEY, Kostas Constantinou, President of the Federation, Giorgos Zikakis, Dimitris Apostolou, coach and the athletes Giorgos Chrysostomou, Charalambos Zorpis, Anninos Alexios Chrysostomou, Alexis Savvidis, Daria Gusarova, Erika Nystrom, Alexandra Gusarova and Zoe Konstantopoulou.

In BEACH KARATE, the team consists of Andreas Vassiliou Koka, President of the Federation, Augustina Stylianou, coach, Petros Michaelidis, referee and the athletes Stavros Alexandros Charalambidis, Stylianos Savva, Stefania Zari and Naya Karagiannidou.

In BEACH TENNIS, the team consists of Marios Kleitou, coach, and athletes Raphael Kassinopoulos, Andreas Thalassinos, Giorgos Andreou, Errikos Grigoriou, Marianna Tsakkistoou and Michaella Horiceanou.

In OPEN WATER SWIMMING, the team consists of Giorgos Hazouris, coach and the athletes Rodolfos Andreou and Yiannis Ergatoudis.

In CANOE OCEAN RACING, the team consists of Djordje Pavlovic, coach and the athletes Christos Christodoulou, Kyriaki Konstantinidou and Savia Kyriaki Hatzicharalambous.

In TRIATHLON of the MODERN PENTATHLON the team consists of Nikolas Loukaidis, coach and athlete Alexandros Konstantinou.

In KITEBOARDING, the team consists of Aleksei Chibizov, coach and athlete Denis Taradin.
