The 13th Cyprus Wine Competition was completed with many awards

Many awards were granted to Cypriot wines in the 13th Cyprus Wine Competition, which took place under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and the International Organization for Vine and Wine (OIV). Specifically, 3 major gold, 47 gold and 6 silver medals were given, as well as 8 special mentions.

According to a Ministry’s announcement, 33 wineries competed with a total of 178 wines, a number which shows the high interest shown by the winemakers.

The awarded wines come from indigenous varieties of Cyprus, the Ministry notes, clarifying that the vast majority of wines that participated in the Competition have received a high score, which would justify their award with a medal, if there was no percentage limit on the awards of the OIV.

“The 13th Cyprus Wine Competition sends the message that the big winner is the Cyprus Wine, whose continuous development, the upward course of its quality and the fact that it competes with wines that have internationally recognized value”, the Ministry notes.

The award-winning wines are presented on the website of the Department of Agriculture.
