Nicosia: Inland temperatures in Cyprus are predicted to climb to nearly 40°C by the week’s end, although the extreme highs of 45°C experienced recently are not anticipated next week. Meteorologist Panagiotis Georgiou shared this forecast with the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) on Sunday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Georgiou stated that the weather will remain mostly clear in the coming days, with temperatures reaching approximately 37°C inland, 30-33°C in coastal areas, and 29°C on the mountains on Sunday. These conditions are expected to persist through Monday and Tuesday, with a slight temperature increase of about one degree anticipated on Wednesday and Thursday.
Georgiou noted that temperatures could peak at 38-39°C, potentially approaching 40°C inland by the weekend. He emphasized that the likelihood of experiencing extreme temperatures like the recent 45°C is low.
When questioned about the accuracy of forecasts for the week beginning August 24, Georgiou acknowledged the usual uncertainties but indicated that a decline in temperatures is expected. A clearer forecast is anticipated to become available by mid-week. The possibility of isolated rain over the mountains has diminished, according to Georgiou.
