Nicosia: Cyprus is experiencing seasonal low pressure, impacting the weather conditions in its sea areas.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast covering an 8-kilometer seawards area from 1200 on August 22, 2026, until 1200 on August 23, 2026. The weather is expected to remain mostly clear, with occasional increased low cloud coverage particularly affecting the west and northwest.
The forecast indicates that winds will range from 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, varying by time of day and location. The atmospheric pressure recorded at the time of issuing the forecast was 1007 hPa. Despite the low-pressure system, visibility is expected to be good across all coasts, with the sea surface temperature recorded at 29°C. No warnings have been issued for the forecast period.
On the west coast, the afternoon will see winds from the west to northwest at 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with sea conditions ranging from smooth to slight. During the night, winds will shift to northwest to north, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state. In the morning, winds will gradually vary from southwest to northwest, maintaining a smooth to slight condition with occasional local increases to 4 on the Beaufort scale.
The south coast will experience southwest to west winds in the afternoon at 4 to 5, locally reaching 5, with sea conditions ranging from smooth to slight. At night, winds will change to northwest to northeast at 3, maintaining a smooth to slight state. By morning, winds will transition from south to southwest at 3 to 4, gradually changing to southwest to west at 4 to 5, with consistent smooth to slight sea conditions.
On the east coast, afternoon winds will be from the south to southwest at 4, with smooth to slight sea conditions. At night, the winds will shift to southwest to northwest at 3, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. Morning conditions will see winds from southeast to southwest at 3, gradually changing to south at 3 to 4, maintaining smooth to slight sea conditions.
The north coast will experience southwest to northwest winds in the afternoon, reaching 4 and locally 4 to 5, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight. At night, winds will change to south to southwest at 3 to 4, near the coast shifting to southeast to southwest at 3, with the sea remaining smooth to slight.
