Raouna Travels to Luxembourg for EU General Affairs Council Meeting

Luxembourg: The Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, is travelling to Luxembourg today, where tomorrow, Tuesday 24 June, she will participate in the EU General Affairs Council meeting.

According to Cyprus News Agency, during the Council meeting, ministers will exchange views on the draft conclusions of the European Council to be held on 26-27 June 2025 in Brussels. As stated, the European Council is expected to address, among other things, Ukraine, the Middle East, European defence and security, the EU in the world, competitiveness, migration, Moldova, the Western Balkans, internal security, and resilience.

It is also noted that, in the context of the 2025 European Semester, the General Affairs Council will be invited to approve and forward to the European Council the horizontal note on the integrated country-specific recommendations, while ministers will hold a country-specific discussion in the context of the annual rule of law dialogue, focusing on the state of the rule of law in Finland.

It is added that during the Council meeting, the last under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, there will be a brief presentation of the priorities of the incoming Danish Presidency.

It is further stated that, in the margins of the Council and in preparation for Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026, Raouna will meet with her counterparts from Denmark, Marie Bjerre, and Germany, Gunther Krichbaum, before travelling to Brussels, where on Wednesday, 25 June, she will meet with the Chair of the RENEW political group in the European Parliament, Valerie Hayer.
