Nicosia: The preparation of a new scheme aimed at maintaining and repairing homes of enclaved and resettled individuals in the Turkish-occupied regions of Cyprus is nearing completion. This development follows an initiative led by Presidential Commissioner Marios Hartsiotis, in collaboration with the Interior Ministry and the Scientific-Technical Chamber of Cyprus (ETEK).
According to Cyprus News Agency, a statement from the Office of the Presidential Commissioner outlined that the relevant services are in the process of finalizing the procedures needed to submit the new scheme for approval. The initiative is a cooperative effort between the Presidential Commissioner, the Interior Ministry, and ETEK, designed to aid the maintenance and repair of homes for those living in the Turkish-occupied territories.
The Presidential Commissioner recently convened with representatives from the Ministry of Interior and ETEK to address remaining issues related to the scheme. This meeting is part of a series of discussions, including a prior meeting with the Minister of Interior, where essential aspects of the initiative were deliberated, and it was agreed to expedite the procedure for completion.
This initiative is a component of the broader governmental policy and part of President Nikos Christodoulides' Governance Programme, which aims to provide meaningful support to enclaved and resettled individuals, enhancing their living conditions in Turkish-occupied areas. The new scheme is intended to be a practical support tool for individuals who continue to live under challenging conditions, striving to preserve the Cypriot presence in their ancestral homes.
