Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, predicting mainly fine weather despite the presence of seasonal low pressure. The forecast covers a period from 1200 on August 27, 2026, until 1200 on August 28, 2026, and includes the area extending 8 kilometers seawards.
According to Cyprus News Agency, atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast's issuance was recorded at 1009 hPa. Despite the low pressure, the department anticipates mainly fine weather with periods of locally increased low cloud coverage, particularly overnight and during morning hours. The forecast also warns of local mist and fog patches expected primarily over the southern and eastern coastal areas, potentially affecting visibility, which could range from good to very poor in foggy conditions.
Sea surface temperatures are expected to remain steady at 29°C, with no warnings issued for the period. Wind conditions are predicted to vary across different coasts but will generally range from 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, with the state of the sea expected to be smooth to slight in all areas.
On the west coast, afternoon winds are projected to be southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 locally. Similar conditions are expected overnight and into the morning as the winds gradually shift. The south coast will experience southwest to west winds in the afternoon, with variations overnight and in the morning. The east and north coasts will also see smooth to slight sea states, with winds shifting directions but remaining mild throughout the forecast period.
